Dolphins by catch

Every year thousands of dolphins die trapped in the nets of hundreds of French fishing boats. The fishermen use nets up to tens of kilometres long, catching every species of fish, many of them protected. The Pelagis National Observatory estimates that at least ten thousand common dolphins die each year due to fishing. In this extremely serious situation, Europe has been asking France to introduce immediate measures to prevent deaths of these marine mammals.
