Puccini Messa di Gloria.jpg

Giacomo Puccini’s Messa di Gloria is an early work written for four-part choir, tenor and baritone soloists and orchestra

.It was presented as a Diploma essay at the Istituto Musicale Pacini in Lucca and performed on 12 August 1880. The work gives a glimpse of the dramatic force that would manifest itself in later compositions: pastoral melodies that evolve into overwhelming situations, frenetic fugues and triumphant episodes.

RSI, with Diego Fasolis conducting I Barocchisti and the Coro della Radiotelevisione svizzera, has produced a version adhering to the original text and performed with historical instruments.
